Frost

The last three days everything was white of frost around here. Today I finally had some time to get out and take some pictures.

Berkenau

...Approximately 1.5 million people have been murdered only in Berkenau. Many more in all other camps. This excursion really left a permanent impression on me and we must never forget what horrible things happened here.

End of the Line

... After Auschwitz we went to Berkenau, which is only a few kilometres away from Auschwitz. From this spot it was only a 100 meters walk to the gas chambers. They where blown up by the Russians when they liberated camp Berkenau...

The Train

... People where transported to the camps in these trains. Sometimes travelling for 20 days without getting food or water...

... I thought Auschwitz had a gas chamber but I learned while visiting the barracks that it wasn't. It doesn't make it any better. Horrible experiments have been done here, many prisoners died of hunger, exhaustion, torture and by the bullet...

Don't Touch

... The whole camp is surrounded by concrete walls and barb wire. People who got through the fence without being electrocuted probably died because of a sniper or attack dog. People did escape from Auschwitz...

The Hook

... My "favourite" picture from Auschwitz, as a picture alone it doesn't say so much but knowing that people where hung here tied with their hands behind their backs to torture them still gives me the creeps...

The Window

... As an old army base Auschwitz mainly consists of stone buildings, which I didn't really expect. When you walk around there you really become in some kind of depression, you think you know so much about it but when you are there you learn quite fast you only know half of it...

In the week of 24 October we had a study project in Poland. We also visited Camp Auschwitz, I took all pictures with my Pentax-M 1.4. I do not recall the aperture settings on the following pictures...

The cat of my cousin, usually she is quite shy, but for once she stayed in her place. Another picture picture taken with my -M at f1.4 .
